Hey again

I'm Em. A product designer with a background in psychology and software development. I think that combination shows up in how I work: I'm as interested in why people behave the way they do as I am in the interfaces they're using.

Achievements

Took a feasibility tool from inception to Beta

As the founding designer on TESSA, I joined Modulous at its inception in 2018. I turned a six-month manual feasibility process into a six-minute digital workflow for modular housing developers, working across the full process from research to handoff. The platform let developers test design, cost and carbon without committing to fixed factories, which was its core differentiator.

Revamped a 10-year old legacy platform

The blueprint of SecurityHQ was evolving with the market and adapting to new customer needs. A customer’s information ecosystem was noisy and a low % of customers were engaging with the platform. This upgrade involved transferring legacy services to a new platform, building a new design system, market & user research, and building a PWA to retire the mobile apps (iOS and Android).

Shipped an Events Check-in App

EngageRM's app enhanced the events management solution that already manages sales, event registrations, ticketing etc. The app is a function of a product used by large sport organisations and venues in the world, including AFL and NBA. My role was to design the end-to-end journey for the events staff and the person attending the event with the aim being to remove a number of current manual processes for staff while enhancing the CX.

Writer for UX Collective

I published an article in 2023, titled "How to build intentional UX in an era of persuasive technology". This was also published Fast Company. In 2026, I published "Is AI slop training us to be better critical thinkers?" The premise for both articles was to bring awareness to designers that human vulnerabilities need to be accounted when designing products to boost metacognitive skills and internet literacy.
